Rev. Dr. James E. Butler - Pastor (ext. coming soon)
Pastor Jim was born in Kansas City, KS, the son of Earl and Jenny Butler. He attended
High School and Jr. College at St. Paul's College and College High in Concordia,
MI, graduating in 1981. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia
Seminary, St. Louis in 1985. In 1998, he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, South Hamilton, MA. Prior to accepting the call
to St. Luke's in 2005, Pastor Jim served seven years as Associate Pastor at Concordia
Evangelical Lutheran Church and School in Machesney Park, IL and for thirteen years
as Pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Springfield, MA. Pastor Jim serves
as Secretary of the New England District and as adjunct professor of religion at
Concordia College, Bronxville, NY in the Missions Training Center. In August of 1982
he married Janyce (nee Watkins). They have four children: Kelly, Joshua and their
twins, Alfredo & Vanessa. They also own two dogs: Aragorn and Sofy.
Cindy Mingels - Office Administrator (781-326-1346)
Cindy has been the Office Administrator at Saint Luke's since May 2007. She lives
in Westwood with her husband, Jeff, and dog, Cinder. They are honored to have frequent
visits from their college students. Jaimelyn (Jaimie) is a senior, and Joshua (Josh)
is a sophomore. Both sister and brother attend UMASS-Lowell. "Every day as I turn
the key in the St. Luke's door, I am reminded of the hard work and dedication shown
by the people of St. Luke's. The church has more than its share of inspiring members.
It is such a positive and rewarding place to be."
Robert S. Potterton, III - Minister of Music (ext. coming soon)
Robert has been at St. Luke’s since June 2008. Since performing his first church
service in his native Connecticut in 2000, he has played over four hundred services
for Lutheran, Congregational, Baptist, Roman Catholic, Methodist, Evangelical Apostolic,
and non-denominational congregations. After graduating from The King's School in
Bolton, CT, he moved to western New York to study at Houghton College, where his
teachers included Judy Congdon, Mark Hijleh, and Sun Mi Ro. In 2008, he graduated
from Houghton College with the Bachelor of Music degree (with honors) in Composition
& Organ Performance with a minor in Bible. He is currently enrolled in the Master
of Sacred Music program at Boston University, where he studies organ with Peter Sykes,
and he plans to pursue a doctorate in theology starting next Fall. He resides in
Brockton with his wife, Carissa, and their three cats: Toffee, Gizmo, and Onyx.
Elaine M. DiPirro - Sunday School Superintendent
Elaine is a life-long Lutheran, and has been a member of St. Luke’s since 2007. She
was previously the Preschool Director and Lead Teacher at Yorkbrook Christian Preschool
in Canton, and has been teaching Sunday School for nearly forty years. Elaine attended
Qunicy College for early childhood education, and is certificated in Massachusetts
as a Director and Lead Teacher. She lives in Randolph with her husband, Nicholas,
and has three children and one grandchild.
