Music Ministry
Robert S. Potterton, III
Minister of Music
Jan Bennett
Ministry Assistant

St. Luke’s has been blessed with an active ministry of music for much of its 118 year history. In addition to offering several new ensembles this year, we are in the final stages of installing a new instrument of three manuals and 58 stops, the Louise S. Janesco Memorial Organ, which will be dedicated later this Fall. Come and see what the Lord has been doing, and continues to do, in our music ministry!
We are in the process of developing a comprehensive program with ensemble opportunities for all ages and a wide range of interests:
Festival Choir -
services
only, and rehearses on Sundays during Advent & Lent.
Senior Choir -
chant
to contemporary anthem, about every other Sunday. Meets
every Sunday after
second service to practice.
Youth Choir -
Junior Choir -
on every other Wednesday evening to rehearse.
Sunday School Chorus -
and
practices on between services during Sunday School.
Handbell Choir -
rehearses
every other Wednesday evening.
Festival Brass -
festival
services of the Church Year, and meets informally as
needed throughout
the season.
Construction began this summer to prepare for the installation of our new organ, named in honor of former member Louise Janesco, by whose bequest we were able to begin our “Raise Your Praise!” campaign. In addition to the instrument, the choir loft will see extensive updates, including the removal of the balcony wall and old organ speakers, new floor and ceiling, and a remodeled office to house the church’s extensive collection of sheet music. We anticipate completion of the project this Fall. Click HERE to see pictures from the construction.
